Annual Poster Contests
Two seventh graders from Slade Middle
School have won the top prize in the 11th annual teen
pregnancy prevention poster contest, sponsored by New
Britain General Hospital's Family Planning Clinic, the
University of Connecticut Health Center Family Planning
Program and the Pathways/Senderos Center.
Kate Koch and Krystaline Gregory
were each awarded the $50 grand prize for their original
poster depicting the perils of teenage parenthood.
Thirty-four students earned recognition for their work.
More than 100 seventh graders from the city's three middle
schools participated in the contest.
The contest is designed to promote awareness of the
problem of teen pregnancy. Student posters must convey the
message that young people should delay becoming parents
until they have completed their education and are prepared
to take on the responsibility of raising a child. The
event coincides with Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month,
recognized nationally by the National Campaign to Prevent
Teen Pregnancy.

prizes, were: Jonathan Perez, Berwyn Kelley, Ashley Colon,
Krystal Colon, Kevin Roldan, and Greg Leitao, all from
